Roy Addison 1944 – 2010

Some of you may already have heard the sad news that Roy Addison, a great friend and supporter of the Broadcasting Press Guild, has died at the age of 66.

After working as a journalist, Roy started in television as a press officer at Thames Television, rising to be its director of press and publicity at the time of Death on the Rock and the loss of its ITV franchise when it was outbid by Carlton. As the company changed ownership, he became director of communications for Pearson Television and later group executive vice-president, corporate communications at RTL.

Roy arranged the first sponsorship of the BPG Television & Radio Awards and was a friend to many BPG members. He was a fellow of the Royal Television Society and chairman of the RTS Veterans Committee.  You can read an obituary on the RTS website.

Our thoughts are with Liz and other members of his family. The funeral will be a small family service and there will be a service of thanksgiving next year.

So very sorry to hear about Roy. Infact I was really shocked. I knew him through Harvey and always found him a very lovely person especially when Harvey died.
My thoughts are with his family.
