- Lunch: Kip Meek, Chairman, YouView -1pm Wednesday October 27th 2010: Bertorelli Soho
- Receipts and feedback, BPG Breakfast with Andy Parfitt
1. Thank you to everyone who came to the first BPG breakfast last month – and apologies for the delay in sending out your receipts. They’re going out this weekend. Do let me have your feedback (and payment!) if you haven’t already, so we can decide when to do the next one and whether to make any changes.
2. I’m delighted to say that our next lunch speaker is to be Kip Meek, the chairman of YouView Ltd (nee Project Canvas). Previously, Kip ran the communications consultancies Ingenious and Spectrum, and was on the board at Ofcom.
YouView will be a free-to-air, web-connected TV service combining Freeview digital channels with on-demand content such as iPlayer. It is a partnership between the BBC, ITV, BT, Channel 4, Channel Five, Arqiva and Talk Talk and will launch in the UK in 2011. It has been opposed by Sky, Virgin and others.
The lunch will be held on Wednesday October 27th in our regular venue, the private room at Bertorelli Soho. It’s at 11-13 Frith Street and the phone number is 020 7494 3491. As usual the pre-lunch drinks will begin at around 12.45pm and we should like to sit down at 1pm.
As usual, the price will be £32 for two courses and coffee, including water and one glass of wine per head. I will collect payment on the day. Please note that lunches are strictly for BPG members only and that drinks other than wine and water must be paid for before you depart. All lunches booked and not cancelled at least 24 hours before the event MUST be paid for.
If you’d like to come, please let me know as soon as possible. Please also mention IF YOU WOULD LIKE A VEGETARIAN MEAL! I’d be grateful if you could reply, as soon as possible letting me know if you can come.
If you have suggestions for future lunch speakers, please let me know.
Yours sincerely,
Torin Douglas
Lunch secretary and Treasurer
