Annual Television and Radio Awards 2008
Phil Redmond Honoured with Harvey Lee Award for “Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting” by Broadcasting Press Guild
Phil Redmond is to receive the prestigious Broadcasting Press Guild, Harvey Lee Award for his “Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting” at a ceremony later today at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London.
The Award is in recognition of his distinguished career in television as a writer, producer and owner of a successful production company, Mersey Television. With credits to his name including Grange Hill, Brookside and Hollyoaks and also an industry pioneer and visionary, the Guild felt it was the correct time to honour his contribution following the 30th Anniversary of Grange Hill.
The BPG Awards are voted for by those who write about television and radio – correspondents, critics and previewers and sponsored by Turner Broadcasting, home to channels CNN International, Cartoon Network and Turner Classic Movies.

The Harvey Lee Award was instituted in 1992 in memory of a former Guild officer. Previous recipients have included John Tusa, David
Attenborough, Richard Dunn, Michael Grade, the News at Ten Team, Brian Lapping, Greg Dyke, Sir Denis Forman, Melvyn Bragg and Anne Wood.
